AWS launches re/Start India for Cloud Skills Development

Amazon Web Services

Amazon Web Services, the cloud computing arm of Amazon.com, has now launched its skills development and job training program in India.

The twelve-week program known as re/Start will prepare participants for cloud computing careers and requires no previous technology experience.

Executive Opinion

Amit Mehta, Head of AWS Training and Certification – India, Amazon Internet Services Pvt. Ltd (AISPL) said, "The industry demand for cloud adoption is far outpacing the number cloud-skilled workers available, leaving organizations struggling to find and hire the talent needed to implement cloud services. To overcome the lack of supply, cloud talent must be cultivated from non-traditional sources. AWS re/Start brings new talent into the cloud ecosystem by skilling unemployed and underemployed individuals with little or no technology experience and preparing them to launch a cloud career."

Pallavi Tyagi, CHRO of India at Capgemini, said, "At Capgemini, we are committed to shaping the talent landscape in India by providing opportunities for individuals to transition into high-demand roles while building their careers. AWS re/Start aligns with that focus, and reflects our commitment to help new recruits get the future they want. As AWS re/Start scales in the country, we believe it will be game-changing for more and more Indians looking to reskill, and take advantage of opportunities in a dynamic and evolving cloud and technology services job market."

Amazon Web Services' Skill Development Program

The program will cover some of the basic AWS cloud skills and practical career skills. It will include some real-world labs, scenario-based exercises, and coursework.

The students will be trained in Linux, security, networking, and relational database skillsets. It will mostly focus on entry-level cloud roles in site reliability, operations and infrastructure support. The re/Start cohorts will be based in six cities which are Chennai, Mumbai, Thiruvananthapuram, Bangalore, Pune and Kolkata.

The program will collaborate with the five local education-based companies, which are Rooman.Net, iPrimed Education, Edujobs Academy, EduBridge Learning, and Vinsys IT Services.

Capgemini will also going to provide financial assistance to the program and will interview and select program graduates into the various cloud roles.

The re/Start event across the globe occurs in twenty-five countries which include Finland, Germany, Australia, Canada, France, Ireland, Italy, Belgium, and Israel, among others.
