Telefónica Germany signs Digital Transformation deal with Tech Mahindra and Wipro

Wipro and Tech Mahindra have now signed a partnership with Telefónica Germany.

Tech Mahindra aims to support Telefónica with end-to-end digital IT transformation. Wipro will work to transform Telefónica's customer business support systems and associated quality assurance. Wipro also revealed that it has signed a five-year agreement.

While commenting on the partnership, Wipro's Chief Executive Officer and MD Thierry Delaporte, said, "This partnership builds on the bedrock of a 15-year relationship. It directly aligns us with Telefonica Germany's growth, and is a great example of how we are building for long-term success in Europe by embracing a collaborative approach with local industry leaders".

Chief Technology and Information Officer of Telefonica Germany/O2, Mallik Rao, also commented on Tech Mahindra partnership and said, "Our large-scale IT transformation project is a key milestone for us in order to increase the reliability of our systems, improve our customer satisfaction and accelerate innovation and time-to-market as we move towards our 5G goal for consumers and business. We are pleased that Tech Mahindra will support us in this transformation process in the mass market segment with its global experience, modern technology solutions, and service quality".

Tech Mahindra and Telefonica Deal

Tech Mahindra announced that it is now going to do faster delivery of products and offer a more human-centered experience to its customers in the mass market segment for a client it has worked with for the last two decades.

As a part of the partnership, Tech Mahindra will leverage out-of-the-box process libraries and capabilities like BSS (Business Support Systems), Customer Experience, Cloud, Data & Analytics, and Artificial Intelligence (AI). 

Tech Mahindra added that in the month of August 2020, Telefónica Germany had selected it to drive network and service operations, in addition to developing use cases for the Machine Learning, 5G, and Artificial Intelligence technologies.

In the new deal, Tech Mahindra said that the modernization of existing stacks based on cloud-native products will help to accelerate Telefónica Germany's digital transformation initiatives.

Wipro and Telefonica Deal

For Wipro, this agreement is a first-of-its-kind engagement in the telecom sector.

Wipro also announced a Radical IT Transformation (RAITT) program to bring itself and Telefónica Germany. Together RAITT will allow for the risk mitigated self-funded transformation that will benefit both the companies, in the backdrop of the 5G network and new internet of things connectivity solutions rollouts

Wipro will also develop a state-of-the-art digital Business Support platform. The platform will support Telefónica Germany’s growth and provide the company with an outcome-based, committed plan, notes the announcement.
