Cisco all set to acquire IoT & Automation wireless firm, Fluidmesh Networks

Cisco System has now announced its intent to acquire the FluidMesh Network LLC, which makes a wireless backhaul system for connecting the IoT (Internet of Things) devices.

The financial terms of the deal were undisclosed as of now, but Cisco was keen to impress on the value of the FluidMesh Technology.

Fluidmesh’s technology offers zero-loss data transfer within high-speed assets. This includes the port, public, and rail mass transit etc.

With this acquisition, Cisco is planning to extend its industrial wireless services to more industries and customers segments with the acquisition of FluidMesh.

The acquisition of Fluidmesh strengthens Cisco’s offerings in this space with leading technology that’s designed to provide zero loss of data transfer at speeds in excess of 300 Km/h."

Additionally, the company, as of now, has plans to use FluidMesh specialized sales teams and system integrator relationships to broaden the reach of its IoT business.

The acquisition will also help Cisco to offer a stronger offering to its customers in key IoT use cases,  enable industrial wireless deployments and broaden the reach to key customer segments, partners, and end-users., notes the announcement.

The acquisition is expected to close by the fourth quarter of Cisco FY 2020 based on required regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
