To build AI platform, Petronas and Microsoft enter Agreement for 100-MW Solar Project in Rajasthan

Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas), a Malaysian oil and gas company via its subsidiary Amplus Solar, has now entered into a long-term renewable energy partnership with the Microsoft for 100 Megawatt solar projects in Rajasthan.

PETRONAS Senior Vice President of Project Delivery and Technology, Bacho Piloting said, "Our partnership with Microsoft, one of the largest corporate buyers of renewable energy in the world today, is a testament to our innovation-driven projects and dedicated focus on enabling corporations to meet their sustainability goals."

Microsoft Executive Vice President and President, National Transformation Partnerships Jean-Philippe Courtois said, "To achieve a net-zero carbon future, we believe in partnering with every industry to harness the power of technology to address the climate challenges we are confronted with today. Our strategic partnership enables both PETRONAS and Microsoft to bring together deep knowledge and technical expertise to further digital transformation in the energy industry with the potential of having a positive impact not only on our planet but also on communities across the globe."

Petronas and Microsoft Agreement

The co-innovation effort will be highly focused on building an intelligence platform supported by the data and AI to support Petrona's decarbonization efforts while establishing a unified sustainability data hub to record, reduce and report emissions.

Petronas revealed that it aspires to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by the end of 2050 as a part of its holistic approach to sustainability that balances Environment, Governance, and Social elements.
