L&T and Microsoft to develop Regulated Sector focused Cloud Computing

L&T and Microsoft will now work together to develop cloud computing solutions for regulated sectors.

The regulator sector in India refers to companies that have an obligation to implement systems of work in-lieu with the rules laid out by the government.

Anant Maheshwari, President, Microsoft India, said, "The government’s drive for ‘Digital India’ and the unprecedented digital momentum across the country has led to a recalibration of the cloud infrastructure requirements. Microsoft is excited to collaborate with L&T to support the public sector and the other regulated industries as they seek to accelerate digital services to benefit all parts of India. This partnership will enable development of a scalable cloud infrastructure model for these sectors to accelerate their digital innovation, in alignment with the data location and security needs of India".

L&T and Microsoft's Cloud Partnership

Under the partnership deal, Microsoft and L&T will work with large customers to develop architectures to turn their traditional data centers into hybrid models.

The MoU will include setting up a joint governance group that will include a roadmap for investments, commercial/business models, and future platform designs to service the technology requirements of regulators sectors.

With the current partnership focusing on India, Microsoft and L&T said that they will consider possible partnership structures to expand to some other jurisdictions.
