HCL Tech sets up Engineering and R&D Center in Canada


HCL has now opened a new innovation centre that focuses on the R&D and engineering services in Alberta, a province in Western Canada.

Bringing together an ecosystem of partners from academia, startups, technology providers and government institutions, the HCL innovation centre will serve as a hub for the HCL engineering teams to co-innovate with customers and solve complex business problems for clients across the globe.

Joelien Jose, Executive Vice President and Country Head, Canada, HCL Technologies, said, "The Edmonton Innovation Center represents a significant expansion of our world-class technology talent and exceptional engineering presence in Canada. Engineering-led digital transformation is set to re-imagine the business landscape, and the excellent facilities at our Edmonton Center provide the right environment for shaping the future of the IT industry."

Doug Schweitzer, Minister for Jobs, Economy and Innovation, Government of Alberta, said, "HCL's expansion into Edmonton is another sign of the record growth of Alberta's technology sector. It is exciting to see HCL identify Alberta as the place to invest due to the amazing talent we have here and the business environment we've created. I look forward to seeing the partnerships and innovations that come from this new Center."

HCL's New Innovation Center

The center will house a co-innovation and engineering hub, which will enable software and high technology clients, which includes Fortune 100 leaders, to not only envision their products but also to see rapid prototyping, continuous learning and collaborative research to create a faster time to market.

The team will be engaged in platform engineering, product engineering, next-gen engineering, operational technology services and R&D.

As a part of the expansion, HCL will hire college students from the educational institutions, which includes The University of Alberta, MacEwan University, NAIT, SAIT and others.
