Machine Learning Platform provider Edge Impulse secured $15 Million

Edge Impulse

Edge Impulse, a California-based development platform for machine learning on edge devices, has now secured a $15 million in Series A funding round.

Edge Impulse is founded by Zach Shelby. The startup offers a development platform for embedded machine learning, being used by lots of enterprises across the 23000+ ML projects across the globe.

The system allows engineers and developers to create a valuable dataset, then rapidly develop and deploy customer ML models to any edge device from the battery-powered sensors to Linux run GPUs (Graphical Processing Unit) capable of operating actuating pneumatics to robotic arms.

Executive Opinion

Zach Shelby, CEO and co-founder of Edge Impulse, said, "We founded Edge Impulse with a mission to empower developers to create the next generation of intelligent devices. We believe that machine learning can enable positive change in society, and we are dedicated to supporting applications for good. With the backing of Canaan Partners, we find ourselves at a tipping point to land our solutions in more places than before, from manufacturing automation and predictive maintenance, to human and animal sensing, and beyond. We're now having a serious conversation about how embedded ML is reshaping the way products are being built, used and maintained, ushering in a new era of data-driven engineering."

Rayfe Gaspar-Asaoka, the partner at Canaan Partners, said, "Zach, Jan and the team at Edge Impulse have built a platform that empowers developers to go from idea to deployment of a novel use case of embedded machine learning within minutes. It truly is a magical experience at the intersection of AI/ML and edge computing. We could not be more thrilled for the opportunity to partner with them on their journey.

Edge Impulse's Latest Funding

The Canaan Partners led the latest funding round. Other participating investors include the Fika Ventures, Knollwood Investment Advisory, Acrew Capital, and Momenta Ventures. To date, Edge impulse has raised a total of $20.4 million in two funding rounds, according to CrunchBase.
