Ola has now picked Swiss Robotics giant ABB for automation solutions for its mega electric scooter factory in India.
Ola will use ABB’s automation solutions in its factory key manufacturing process lines, which include welding and painting. Once Ola's electric scooter factory is operational, it will have 5,000 robots and automated guided vehicles.
Executive Opinion
Bhavish Aggarwal, chairman and Group CEO, Ola, said, "We are delighted to bring on board ABB, a global leader in robotics, machine automation and digital services, as a key supplier and partner for robotics and automation solutions that will be deployed at our scooter mega-factory."
Sanjeev Sharma, managing director, ABB India and South Asia, said, "We are privileged to be an end to end partner of Ola Electric and contribute to the EV vision of this path-breaking company and of our nation. Ola and ABB Robotics
The Robots of ABB are going to be deployed for the battery and assembly lines of the mega factory.
In December, Ola announced a deal with the Tamil Naidu Government to set up an INR 2400 crore e-scooter plant at Hosur. The company expects to create around 10000 jobs and produce close to 20 lakh units per year.
Ola also revealed that ABB’s robots would be integrated into the mega factory's main IT infrastructure while ensuring remote digital connectivity. The robots are expected to run on Ola’s Artificial Intelligence engine and technology stack.
Ola revealed that its AI stack would be integrated into all systems, self-learning and optimizing all aspects of manufacturing.
The scooters are expected to be exported to markets across Latin America, New Zealand, UK, Europe, and Latin America, notes the announcement.
