ADT and Google partner for Smart Home Security Solutions

ADT and Google have partnered to offer the next generation of smart home security solutions.

Google will also invest $450 Million in equity leading to 6.6% ownership of ADT. The partnership will lead to advanced and integrated helpful home security solutions. Both companies will leverage machine learning technology to transform smart home security solutions to enhance the customer experience.

President and CEO of ADT, Jim DeVries, said, "We are thrilled to partner with Google to provide the smart home market with a strong, differentiated product and service offering that integrates the best technology, hardware and smart home security expertise from our two brands. Google’s partnership and financial investment in ADT underscores the depth of our joint commitment to the smart home and security markets. Our entire leadership team is looking forward to continuing our work with Google as we define the future of helpful home security and build a productive long-term partnership."

GM and Vice President of Nest, Rishi Chandra, said, "We’re excited to partner with ADT to further our mission of building helpful devices for the home. ADT is a leader in smart home security, and I look forward to working with the team to create innovative smart home security solutions that help everyone feel safe and protected."

Both companies will be also committing $150 million for co-marketing, product development, technology, and employee training. This additional investment will be done once certain milestones are achieved, notes the announcement.

Both companies bring their unique capabilities to the partnership. Google brings machine learning-powered Nest’s hardware and services. At the same time, ADT brings installation, service, and professional monitoring network. According to the announcement, the partnership aims to create a helpful smart home and integrated experience for customers across the United States.
