Fishtown Analytics secured $12.9 Million in Series A Funding round

Fishtown Analytics

Fishtown Analytics, a Philadelphia based provider of an open-source data engineering platform, has recently secured $12.9 million in the Series A round of funding.

The funding round was backed by Andreessen Horowitz. Post funding, Martin Casado, the General Partner at Andreessen Horowitz, will join as the Fishtown Analytics Board of Directors.

Fishtown Analytics is founded by Tristan Handy. It offers an open-source data engineering data build tool, which enables data analysts and engineers to organize, filter, cleanse, denormalize, rename, and pre-aggregate data so that it is ready for the purpose of analytics.

Executive Opinion

Martin Casado, a general partner at Andreessen Horowitz, said, "We believe we're experiencing one of the biggest shifts in the history of compute right now—the modern data stack is at least a $100B opportunity. dbt has the opportunity to become the connective tissue that maps the data flows through this entire stack, and we're incredibly excited to be a part of its story."

Tarik Dwiek, Director of Technology Alliances at Snowflake, said, "dbt is built to leverage the full capability of Snowflake's powerful cloud data platform. With dbt, data teams can focus on building better data models, instead of spending time on data administration. We're excited to see dbt adoption grow among Snowflake customers."

Fishtown Analytics' Latest Funding

The newly raised funding will be leveraged for the product development of dbt, an open-source analytics engineering tool. Analysts and engineers use the dbt tool to transform, test, and document data in the warehouse.

Fishtown Analytics has its team located in Austin, Raleigh, and San Francisco.
