Confluent secured $250M in Series E Funding Round led by Coatue Management


Confluent Inc, Mountain View, California based event streaming platform provider has now secured $250 million in the Series E funding round.

The Coatue Management led the latest funding round. Other participants include both the new and existing investors such as Index Ventures, Franklin Templeton, Altimeter Capital, and Sequoia Capital.

Founded in 2014, Confluent offers an Apache Kafka based enterprise-ready event streaming platform. It allows firms in every major industry to run real-time, event-driven applications, from batch processing, spanning on-premises, and multi-cloud environments. To date, the company has raised a total of $456 Millon in funding over 5 rounds including the latest funding round, notes the announcement.

CEO and co-founder, Jay Kreps, Confluent, said, "Today’s high expectations for on-demand services has given rise to a new data infrastructure paradigm where data is no longer just a static database of information. Event streaming has set the new standard for how data can be leveraged across an organization as a continuous stream of real-time events. We’re looking forward to helping more companies put event streaming at the heart of their businesses to deliver the real-time, contextual experiences customers demand."

Thomas Laffont, co-founder, Coatue Management, said, “Confluent is re-architecting businesses around event streaming which helps to modernize applications. We believe Confluent is a thought leader in event streams, and we look forward to seeing how the team advances the space with game-changing products like Confluent Cloud.”

Confluent's Latest Funding

The company, as of now, has plans to use the new funds to expand its offerings and its business outreach. As a part of Project Metamorphosis, Confluent will provide a fully hosted event streaming platform in Confluent Cloud, notes the announcement.

Starting May, each month, Confluent will announce major capabilities to its offerings. The latest funding brings the Confluent's valuation to $4.5 Billion.
