Bharti Airtel to use TCS's cloud ready HOBS platform to help roll out Products faster

Bharti Airtel to use TCS platform to roll out products faster

Bharti Airtel has now signed with the IT services firm TCS to accelerate its digital transformation journey, reported Economic Times.

Offered as Business-Process-as-a-Service (BPaaS) as well as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), TCS HOBS runs on Azure. TCS HOBS provides Communication Service Providers (CSP) and subscription-based digital businesses to go to market quicker and get benefitted from a pay-as-you-use commercial model.

Under this new deal, Airtel will leverage the cloud-ready TCS HOBS product portfolio management (PPM) solution. The implementation is even expected to help the Airtel to create personalized offers. It will also allow the Airtel to eliminate inefficiencies, thus reduce time to market by around 90%,, notes the announcement.

Executive Opinion

Nathan Phipps, CIO-Mobile and Homes, Bharti Airtel, said, "We believe that digital transformation needs simplification of product offerings. In a fiercely competitive mobile market, like India, digitally-enabled services require faster time-to-market, so the underlying B/OSS supporting them should rapidly embrace the changes. We chose TCS HOBS Product Portfolio Management as it brings business agility to our operations, helping Airtel take a giant leap forward in its digital journey."

Business Group Head, Communications, Media & Information Unit, TCS,  Kamal Bhadada, said, "We are glad that Bharti Airtel is leveraging TCS HOBS’ Product Portfolio Module for its digital transformation journey. We have developed the TCS HOBS solution leveraging our deep contextual knowledge of subscription-based businesses. It enables service providers with product personalization, dynamic configuration, partner product bundling, open APIs for out-of-the-box integration and automation of the underlying business processes. TCS HOB – a TM Forum certified product – is helping several service providers differentiate themselves in the rapidly evolving digital business landscape."

TCS HOBS deployment at Airtel

The key capabilities of the cloud-ready TCS HOBS include product portfolio management, digital customer engagement, collaborative selling, contract management, dynamic orchestration, revenue management, partner management, device management, network inventory management, and assurance.

However, Airtel will leverage the cloud-ready TCS HOBS product portfolio management (PPM) solution.  TCS HOBS will help Airtel business teams to manage the product portfolio on their own and automate some of the new product rollouts across the business and IT operations. It will also help them to achieve consistency in product data across systems.

TCS HOBS PPM will streamline the company product lifecycle process, and rationalize its large product portfolio by 80%, notes the announcement.

Its product catalogue capabilities help the modelling of the Airtel digital and traditional products while its user interface guides the product modeller throughout the lifecycle.

Last month, TCS also partnered with QIAGEN for their Digital Transformation.
