OPPO India collaborates with IIT Hyderabad for Research in 5G, AI, and Emerging Tech

Oppo is now collaborating with the IIT-Hyderabad to promote research in the field of science and technology, Economic Times reported.

The Vice President and Head, Oppo India, Mr. Tasleem Arif has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the 13th of January 2020.

The deal will facilitate the exchange of ideas. It will also help in the state of the art research areas such as camera and image processing, battery, networks (5G), system performance and Artificial Intelligence, among other areas, notes the announcement.

In the ET report, Dean (Research and Development), IIT Hyderabad, Sumohana S. Channappayya, said, "This collaboration with OPPO will help in the development of indigenous solutions to cater to the dynamic needs of the Indian consumers."

In the same report, Vice President and Head (R&D), OPPO India, Tasleem Arif, said, "Our collaboration with IIT Hyderabad is in line with our vision to enhance R&D and innovation capabilities at OPPO India as we continue our endeavor to build localized solutions for the Indian market. This collaboration aims to pave the way to carry out quality research and promote the rapid integration of cutting-edge technology, particularly in the areas of 5G and AI."

Oppo and IIT-Hyderabad Partnership

The Oppo India and IIT Hyderabad partnership envisage joint research and development for multiple projects over a time period of two years for the development of some of the latest technologies in areas specific to camera and image processing, system performance, Artificial Intelligence, 5G network, battery, and some other areas.

The partnership will try to bridge the gap between business requirements and academic excellence. The joint effort will also try to create an industry-ready workforce, notes the announcement.
