NVIDIA and Didi Chuxing announce cloud, driverless car partnership

Nvidia has recently partnered with the Beijing headquartered transportation company DiDi Chuxing Technology to offer services in cloud computing, AI, and autonomous driving.

The California based company has moved to develop the chips for the self-driving cars and AI systems, among others, in the latest emerging technology space.

The latest announcement was made at the company's annual event, GTC 2019.

DiDi will be going to use the Nvidia Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) and AI technology to develop cloud computing and autonomous driving solutions, notes the announcement.

Executive Opinion

Vice President of Autonomous Vehicles at NVIDIA, Rishi Dhall, said, "Developing safe autonomous vehicles requires end-to-end AI, in the cloud and in the car. NVIDIA AI will enable DiDi to develop safer, more efficient transportation systems and deliver a broad range of cloud services."

More about the DiDi and Nvidia association

The Chinese company will also deploy the GPUs in the data center for the training ML algorithms and Nvidia Drive for the inference on its Level 4 autonomous driving vehicles.

Nvidia Drive Platforms include an in-vehicle computer and data center hosted simulation, as well as complete reference architecture and deep neural network training platform.

Moreover, these platforms will include the software developer kit to accelerate autonomous vehicle development.

DiDi will also train the deep neural networks with the help of Nvidia GPU data center servers. It will build an AI infrastructure and launch the virtual GPU cloud servers for cloud computing, said the announcement.
