Gurugram partners with Cisco to make Gurugram safer, smarter

India's Gurugram city is working towards becoming a smart city. The city metropolitan development authority (GMDA) has partnered with the Cisco Systems, reports Economic Times of India. 

As a part of this smart city initiative, an Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) with an integrated video surveillance system will be set up. The ICCC is part of a series of initiatives implemented by the Haryana government to transform the state digitally.

Gurugram city is situated about 30 Kilometers from India's national capital New Delhi. The city is part of Indian state Haryana.

Economic Times report also noted the statement from Director, Cisco India, and Saarc, Ashish Wattal, who said, "The integration of public services digitally creates a massive opportunity waiting to be tapped since the data it provides can be leveraged to solve complex urban challenges. We are proud to provide the latest state-of-the-art equipment and technology to GMDA to realise its Digital Gurugram vision and achieve its objective of a safe and secure smart city”.

Cisco and Smart city solutions

Cisco's smart city digital solutions will power the state of the art command center. It will be a nodal point for traffic management, city surveillance and become a foundation for an integrated video surveillance system, notes the ET report.

The system will be going to be deployed at all 115 sectors of the Manesar and Gurugram, falling under the GMDA.

Cisco claims that its analytics engine enables the safe data exchange across the community infrastructure, while it's Stealthwatch and Firewall will deliver the advanced threat detection and more in-depth forensics.

Cisco's solutions are integrated with a layer of Artificial Intelligence that will help city law enforcement to monitor and detect criminal activity more easily, notes the ET report.
