Jio and Microsoft join hands to accelerate India's Digital Transformation with Azure Cloud Platform
Jio has signed a ten-year collaboration with the Microsoft to push emerging tech-led connectivity, computing and storage solutions in the country.
Headquartered in Mumbai, India, Jio is one of the biggest mobile network operators in India. The company claims to be one of the world's largest data network based on mobile data consumption.
The partnership will promote technologies like the Blockchain, Internet of Things(IoT), Cloud/Edge computing, Analytics, Cognitive Services, and Artificial Intelligence among small and medium enterprises across the country. The partnership aims to accelerate technology-led GDP growth in India by driving the latest technology adoption thus driving overall digital transformation in the country, the announcement notes.
As a part of a deal, Jio will offer its internal workforce with the cloud-based connectivity and Microsoft 365 collaboration tools. Jio will also migrate its non-network applications to the Microsoft Azure cloud platform.

Reliance Jio and Microsoft Azure-based Cloud Solutions
Jio will set up data centers across India, consisting of storage, compute and network capabilities. Microsoft will deploy its Azure cloud platform in these data centers to support the offering of Jio.The initial two data centers will be set up in Maharashtra and Gujarat and are expected to be fully operational in the year 2020, says the announcement.
The partnership is also expected to see Jio execute its integrated speech and computer vision solutions for the entire country. One of the major segment of these solutions will include Jio trying to support major Indic languages and dialects.
