Baidu announces Automotive AI version of DuerOS for Apollo

Baidu recently announced its automotive version of conversational AI platform, DuerOS for Apollo at the 18th International Automobile & Manufacturing Technology Exhibition.

Automotive AI version of DuerOS for Apollo platform will feature in international and China's domestic automobile makers including Ford Escape and Edge ST, Great Wall Haval H6, Chery EXEED TX/TXL, Hyundai SANTA FE, and KIA KX5/KX3, says the announcement.

In all Baidu partnered with 14 industry players to bring and display Multiple Connected Vehicle Solutions and Enterprise Applications.

Vice President and General Manager of Baidu’s Intelligent Driving Group, Zhenyu Li, said, "Artificial intelligence is transforming the automotive industry. Working with our partners, Baidu is building a new framework for connected vehicle solutions and intelligent transportation, and accelerating the transition of cars to something more than vehicles of transportation. We believe DuerOS for Apollo will bring people a new and improved riding experience. Meanwhile, Apollo Enterprise will play a key role in providing autonomous driving and connected vehicles solution."

Bidu's Connected Vehicle Solutions and Enterprise Applications

In June 2018, Baidu and Ford China partnered to create connected car and digital solutions for vehicles. Followed by this collaboration, both players co-developed the SYNC+ infotainment based on the DuerOS for Apollo. The platform provides intelligent navigation and entertainment services as well as solutions that integrate vehicles with smart homes.

According to the announcement, one of the best-selling SUVs in China, new Haval H6 by Great Wall Motors will be equipped with DuerOS for Apollo. The solution will cover functionality like voice assistant, intelligent navigation, media entertainment, mini program, online payment, and data security. The SUV's DuerOS for Apollo offers over 50 mini-programs, including online video, e-commerce, travel, and after-sales services.

DuerOS for Apollo is also installed on Chery Auto’s EXEED TX/TXL SUVs. It will help Cherry Auto to provide enhanced experience by integrating the data flow between riders, vehicles, road, the cloud along with the ability to make in-car payments with facial recognition, notes the announcement.

Baidu also showcased its concept car in collaboration with Panasonic and applications of Apollo Enterprise solutions for the new vehicles by WM Motor, says the announcement.
