TCS to promote Blockchain Solutions Developed with Microsoft's Azure and R3's Corda Blockchain Technology

TCS has announced that it will drive scaled adoption of blockchain across industries that will use technologies from Microsoft and R3.

TCS is developing and scaling up its hybrid cloud infrastructure to help enterprise customers to digitally transform their businesses. The platform will use the Microsoft Azure blockchain cloud and leverage R3’s Corda Enterprise blockchain platform technologies, notes the announcement. The platform will allow TCS to quickly develop and deliver application layer solutions.

Executive Opinion

Global Head, Blockchain Services, TCS, Lakshminarasimhan Srinivasan, said, "By collaboratively identifying the base capabilities needed for disruptive ecosystem use cases and by extracting reusable assets from engagements that we have executed, we are in a strong position to build and test minimum viable platforms for customers. Some of the anchor solutions that we are building on these platforms include skills marketplace, anti-counterfeiting of luxury goods, affordable mobility, shared telecom infrastructure for 5G, and loyalty and rewards programs."

Corporate Vice President, One Commercial Partner, Microsoft, Gavriella Schuster, said, "Microsoft has been in the forefront of helping enterprises adopt blockchain technology with its Azure Blockchain offerings and DevOps kits. This relationship would be valuable in accelerating adoption of these toolkits as well as in identifying future needs for rapid solution development and cloud hosting."

TCS's Blockchain Play

TCS is working on five blockchain platforms such as digital identity, track and trace, assets in common, asset monetization, and tokenization. The announcemnt also said that the platforms developed through the alliance will be equipped with complete DevOps kits. TCS, Microsoft, and R3 would contribute their assets for rapid design, building, and deployment.

TCS has also identified blockchain usecases in component management lifecycle in manufacturing, digital assets rights, electronic health records management, software IP protection, peer-to-peer insurance etc.

The announcement stated that TCS is already deploying its Quartz Blockchain Solutions for enterprises in the financial services sector. In October 2018, TCS partnered with Intel to make  Quartz Blockchain Solution more secure by integrating Intel's Software Guard Extensions technology.
