GrayMatter Robotics, a Los Angeles-based AI Robotics company offering smart automation solutions, has now secured $20 million in a Series A funding round.

GrayMatter Robotics is founded by Ariyan Kabir and Brual Shah. It is an AI Robotics company delivering smart robotic automation solutions for tedious and ergonomically challenging tasks. It serves a wide range of manufacturing industries with its smart robotic cells for high mix surface finishing and surface treatment applications, enabling them to improve the quality of life of shop floor workers, enhance the production capacity, and reduce scrap, repair and rework costs.

Executive Opinion

Jon Coners, Sr. Manufacturing Manager at Bega North America, said, "Our biggest concern was that our part-mix is very high, so it seemed like a very daunting task to automate such operations. Scan&Sand has the ability to work on a component or a group of components and has a simple one-button operation. Not worrying about having a fixed setup; you can move parts around, and the robot will look again! This was our first foray into robotics, so we had to have a partner, not just a vendor, that will really be there for us, and GrayMatter has stepped up to the plate."

Adi Leviatan, President, 3M Abrasive Systems Division, said, "Customer demand has never been higher for robotics and automation solutions, helping manufacturers improve productivity, obtain cost savings, and provide consistent, high-quality performance. Reinvesting in GrayMatter Robotics aligns with 3M's efforts to deliver easy-to-use automated abrasive processing systems that address the challenges posed by high-mix manufacturing operations."

GrayMatter Robotics' latest funding

The round was backed by the B Capital Group, OCA Ventures, Calibrate Ventures, Stage Venture Partners, Pathbreaker Ventures, and 3MVentures, as well as a new backer, Swift Ventures.

The company, as of now, has plans to use the new funds to expand its team, hire for various roles, and accelerate the development and deployment of its AI Robotics solutions.
