MakeMyTrip launches limited edition NFTs on Indian tourism

MakeMyTrip has revealed NFTs on popular tourist destinations from India. The first set of digital artworks will be based on landscapes in Orissa, Gurugram, Kerala, Goa, Rajasthan, Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh and Andamans, according to various media reports.

NFTs are digital tokens with unique identification codes that can be assigned to any digital file, including merchandise, moments, video and artwork to signify ownership. It can be minted on blockchain platforms and sold and purchased on marketplaces such as OpenSea.

In ET report, Sunil Suresh, Group Chief Marketing Officer, MakeMyTrip, said, "The limited-edition NFTs are a confluence of new-age technology with the world of travel as it captures the beauty of some of the exotic locations of India. We are offering travel enthusiasts a never-before chance to be owners of this beauty in the digital domain. These NFTs are in line with our overall marketing and communication objective of inspiring every Indian to discover and explore the majestic beauty of India."

MakeMyTrip's NFTs

MakeMyTrip revealed that the digital artworks had been designed and conceptualized to commemorate some of the popular as well as the unexplored travel gems of India.

The company has launched around 25 tokens which start at INR 14999 and will b available for purchase on a first-come, first-serve basis. These artworks have been minted on Polygon blockchain and will be rolled out on KoineArth’s NgageN platform.

As per the report from MakeMyTrip, each artwork has been designed using Generative Adversarial Networks to produce realistic images. The artwork is conceptualized and designed by the AI Bots, an online community of digital artists.
