Executive Opinion

Per Boström, Chief Information Officer, Skanska, said, "To achieve Skanska’s strategic goal, it is imperative we work with partners who take the time to understand our business and our corporate values of being honest, open, and collaborative. In TCS, we have found a partner that understands our business and corporate values. Thanks to TCS’s deep domain knowledge of the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) industry, digital thought leadership alongside its best-in-class capabilities on the Oracle Cloud platform, they will be an essential partner in supporting us while we continue our journey to the cloud and overall digital transformation."

Avinash Limaye, Regional Head of TCS Scandinavia, said, "Progressive companies in the construction industry are prioritizing investments in capabilities that enhance their adaptability and resilience and help them deliver superior customer experiences. This partnership with Skanska marks a new area of growth for TCS in the Nordics. Using our global expertise in the EPC industry and expertise in digital technologies, we will ensure Skanska achieves its long-term strategic objectives."

Skanska and TCS deal

As a part of the multi-year partnership, TCS will deploy its machine first delivery model (MFDM) framework to accelerate Skanska’s journey to the cloud-powered digital transformation.

TCS' MFDM framework uses automation, Artificial Intelligence, analytics, and robotics to help organizations achieve their business outcomes faster with reduced risk. The framework even helps transform business process activities into an intelligent process by giving technology the first right of refusal in the performance of the tasks, notes the announcement.

TCS will also help Skanska to shift to a more proactive IT model, such as chatbots for help desk support services. Additionally, TCS will manage the construction giant's Oracle Cloud applications across the supply chain, procurement, projects, finance, analytics, and human capital management planning.

The whole effort is expected to help Skanska become one of the most digitally advanced companies in the construction industry and free its IT team for more sophisticated value-adding tasks, notes the announcement.
