NXP Semiconductors partners with AWS for Vehicle Data Access and Connected vehicles

NXP Semiconductors

NXP Semiconductors has revealed a strategic partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) focused on the opportunities of the connected vehicles.

The partnership aims to deliver a secure, edge to cloud computing solution for the next-gen vehicles. It will further enable the new cloud supported services to benefit car manufacturers, their business partners, and consumer alike.

Executive Opinion

Executive Vice President and General Manager of Automotive Processing at NXP Semiconductors, Henri Ardevol, said, "NXP is pleased to collaborate with AWS to help our automotive customers accelerate their digital transformation initiatives by unlocking the value of vehicle data and leveraging edge-to-cloud services. We see the opportunity to help them make impactful improvements throughout vehicle life cycles with new vehicle data insights and the ability to make continuous improvements using machine learning and over-the-air updates."

NXP Semiconductors and AWS partnership

There is a need to addresses the requirement of centralized access to vehicle-wide data that can work securely and collaboratively with the cloud. The integration of the AWS edge and cloud services with the NXP’s new S32G vehicle network processor for service-oriented gateways addresses this requirement, notes the announcement.

Real-time vehicle insights can open a new set of services and use cases. For instance, car manufacturers can monitor for potential component failure, prevent costly warranty repairs and recall, improve the customer experience by minimizing service visits, and optimize the supply chain.

Insurance and mobility companies can use expanded data to create new business models and provide cost reduction benefits to drivers across the driving behavior and vehicle condition.

Car manufacturers can offer attractive services that use vehicle sensors and some other data to create new user experiences and capabilities such as remote viewing inside and around the vehicle for safety, security, and convenience.
