AI startup Grid AI secured $18.6M in Series A Funding round led by Index Ventures

Grid AI, a New York-based company that enables companies of all sizes to train state of the art AI models on cloud GPUs, and TPUs, has now secured $18.6 million in Series A funding.

Grid AI is founded by the William Falcon, the creator of the framework PyTorch Lightning. Grid AI has developed a technology platform that enables the machine learning engineers, AI and data scientist’s researchers at companies of all sizes to train state of the art AI models on cloud GPUs and TPUs from their laptops and enable the rapid research iteration.

Grid AI cofounder William Falcon said, "Grid is here to teach, train and supercharge machine learning engineers, data scientists and AI researchers, so they can work with maximum efficiency on exactly the way they want, instead of spending all their time managing hardware or solving engineering problems. Our main goal is for the product to be user friendly so companies don’t have to worry about the machines they are running or clusters, and instead can focus on delivering value for their customers."

Sarah Cannon of Index Ventures, said, "The unique combination of the explosive popularity of PyTorch Lightning and the deep technical expertise of Grid’s founding team will enable Grid to have a profound impact on the ability of all companies, regardless of resources, to take advantage of cutting edge machine learning technology".

Grid AI's Latest Funding

The funding round was backed by Index Ventures with participation from the Firstminute and Bain Capital Ventures.

The company, as of now, has plans to use the new funds to build its core technologies and expand its New York-based team.
