Gitpod secured $3M in Seed Funding round led by Speedinvest

Gitpod, a Germany based open-source developer platform to automate the provisioning of ready to code development environments, has now secured $3 million in seed funding.

Gitpod is founded by the Sven Efftinge. It is an open-source GitOps solution that leverages the version control system as a canonical source of truth to automate everything a developer needs to start coding. It allows engineering teams to automate the setup of local dev environments, saving time and enabling a new level of collaboration to create applications quickly in a productive development environment for any GitLab, BitBucket, and GitHub project.

The round was backed by the Speedinvest with participation from Vertex Ventures US and Crane Venture Partners.

The company intends to use the latest funding to further refine the platform for development environment automation as well as to expand Gitpod open source community.
