Red Hat and Samsung partner for 5G and Kubernetes-based Networking for Service Providers

Red Hat and Samsung are now collaborating for 5G network solutions built on top of Red Hat OpenShift, an enterprise Kubernetes platform.

The partnership intends to help service providers to bring 5G across use cases, including 5G core, edge computing, IoT, machine learning, notes the announcement.

Senior Vice President and Head of Product Strategy, Networks Business at Samsung Electronics, Mr. Won Il Roh, said, "We are pleased to collaborate with Red Hat to help service providers stay competitive in this increasingly demanding global 5G market, especially on the cloud-native front. Through this partnership, Samsung 5G solutions will provide a highly efficient and reliable network experience for our customers by integration with Red Hat’s cloud-native solution."

Red Hat powered Telco cloud

The telco cloud will leverage Red Hat’s cloud solutions such as Red Hat OpenShift, Red Hat OpenStack Platform, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, and Red Hat OpenShift Container Storage.

The collaboration will also leverage Samsung’s 5G vRAN, vCore, MEC and management, and analytics. Thus helping service providers extend 5G-based use cases like edge computing, notes the announcement.
