Binance launches “Build For Bharat”, a Decentralized Finance Hackathon in India

Binance, a global blockchain company behind the world's largest digital asset exchange, has launched ‘Build for Bharat’, a program with a hackathon and acceleration opportunities for blockchain startups and developers in India.

Binance is the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume. It serves users from more than 200 countries and regions.

Build for Bharat’ hackathon

The hackathon is sponsored by the Google Cloud, along with leading technology companies, which includes the Band Protocol, Ankr Cloud Infrastructure, Matic Network, Marlin Protocol.

The acceleration opportunities come under the Polaris, an initiative by the Blockchain for India 50M fund, launched by the Binance and WazirX in the month of March 2020.

Spanning for over a few months – from 24th of August – 31st of October 2020, the Build for Bharat hackathon will be open to innovators, startups, creators, and BUILDers from all across the country working on creative products utilizing digital assets and blockchain technology.

The hackathon and acceleration will be centered on decentralized finance (Defi) such as microfinance products, blockchain AI solutions, mini-Tokens, and Blockchain datasets, notes the announcement.

Selected partners will also undergo three stages of filtration, with 100 teams shortlisted in the first round, 20 teams in the second, and five teams in the final round.

The finalists will get rewards from a pool of 30,00,00 INR while the winning teams stand a chance to secure additional investment and mentorship opportunities under the Polaris accelerator.
