SAP Applications and its workloads at Wipro will now be moved to the Google Cloud, where it is estimated to support Wipro 1.8 lakh employees.

Wipro revealed that the partnership will help modernize its core ERP system to SAP flagship S/4 HANA and will migrate the SAP workloads onto the Google Cloud Platform.

Executive Opinion

Bhanumurthy B.M, President and Chief Operating Officer, Wipro Limited, said, "As a provider of digital transformation services to some of the world's most impactful businesses, it is critical that our own core systems and technologies are running on intelligent and modern platforms that encompass the needs of the future. This transformation program will help us to run our most business-critical workloads and applications with speed and agility, and to support our customers more effectively."

Thomas Kurian, a CEO, Google Cloud, said, "Wipro is embracing digital transformation at speed and scale. By modernizing their core systems and technologies with Google Cloud, they have a powerful and scalable foundation to accelerate their strategic enterprise priorities and build for the future".

Wipro and Google Cloud Partnership

Wipro will benefit from the SAP ERP along with scalability and flexibility provided by the GCP.

Apart from GCP Migration, Wipro will also going to roll out the G-Suite for some of its employees in order to realize better interoperability and security controls, along with better real-time collaborations in remote work environments.

Wipro also added that the dedicated Google Cloud practice would also help its enterprise customer to power business and their technology transformation including services such as application modernization, AI, data analytics, SAP workload migration as well as large industrialized scale cloud migrations.

Wipro has also added Anthos, which is Google open-source platform for managing applications in a multi-cloud scenario. This would enable the IT major to provide hybrid cloud deployments for its customers.

Just a few days back, Wipro launched 5G Edge Services Suit built on IBM Edge Ecosystem.
