DISH deals with Mavenir software for Cloud-native OpenRAN for 5G Wireless Broadband Network
DISH, a US Mobile Network Operator, recently signed an agreement with the Mavenir to deliver cloud-native OpenRAN software for its 5G wireless broadband network.
Open Radio Access Networks (OpenRAN) is an initiative to define and build 2G, 3G and 4G RAN solutions based on general-purpose vendor-neutral hardware and software-defined technology. The initiative helps in reducing the cost of building mobile networks.
DISH Network is a satellite service provider that provides satellite television, interactive television services, and audio programming.
The company operates through two segments, Wireless, and DISH and offers video services under the brand name as DISH.

DISH and Mavenir
As part of the agreement, Mavenir will provide Dish with a cloud-native OpenRAN software. The deal will enable the first software-defined 5G wireless broadband network in the US.DISH will lease the spectrum from the T-Mobile as it continues to build its own 5G network connectivity in the wake of the merger between the Sprint and T-Mobile.
Under this new merger, the US Department of Justice ruled that the pair must divest their pay as you go businesses to DISH, to make sure adequate competition into the current market.
