Executive Opinion

Manuvir Da, Nvidia’s head of enterprise computing told TechTarget, "We are not a storage vendor. We do not intend to be a storage vendor. We’re not in the business of selling storage in any form. We work very closely with our storage partners. This acquisition is designed to further the integration between different storage technologies and the work we do for AI."

In a blog post, CPO and co-founder, SwiftStack, Joe Arnold, said,  "Building AI supercomputers is exciting to the entire SwiftStack team. We couldn’t be more thrilled to work with the talented folks at NVIDIA and look forward to contributing to its world-leading accelerated computing solutions."

NVIDIA's SwiftStack acquisition

SwiftStack and NVIDIA have been working together to enable AI at scale and resolve data challenges associated with it.

Previously, SwiftStack launched its SwiftStack 7 with capabilities catering to deep learning requirements at ultra-scale such as advanced machine learning, media analytics, and scientific research, in environments like autonomous vehicle development, ingest and processing of 4K/8K video, and other compute-intensive processes.

SwiftStack will maintain, enhance, and support 1space, ProxyFS, Swift, and the Controller for their existing customers.NVIDIA’s GPU-powered AI infrastructure already leverages SwiftStack’s technology, notes the announcement.

The transaction is expected to close in coming weeks subject to customary conditions.
