Wipro grabs Multi-Year IT Deal From Marelli, Plans to use HOLMES AI platform

Marelli has selected Wipro for a multi-year, global, strategic IT deal.  The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

In May 2019, Calsonic Kansei and Magneti Marelli combined to create a global independent automotive supplier and come up with a MARELLI.

As a part of the agreement, Marelli intends to standardize, simplify and enhance its IT services at a global level, notes the announcement.

Executive Opinion

Senior Vice President - Chief Information Officer, Marelli, Dario Castello,  said, "We are consolidating and further developing our IT services at a global level. This consolidation and standardisation will provide an important pillar of integration within the company. Technology will be used as a key enabler in improving operational efficiency and driving synergies across the globe. We found in Wipro the right partner for the future to enable us to drive this."

Senior Vice President – Manufacturing Business Unit, Wipro Limited, Vinay Firake,  said, "We are delighted to be selected as Marelli’s strategic partner and look forward to supporting them in their challenges. Our strong capabilities, backed by extensive global experience in working with some of the biggest automotive suppliers in the world, will enable us to deliver this high value engagement for Marelli. This partnership endorses the value we bring to the automotive industry and bears testimony to our growing footprint in Italy and Japan which are strategic markets for us."

Further, Marelli plans consolidation of applications management services & workplace end-user services spanning different vendors.

In March 2019, Wipro launched it's Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) solutions, Wipro HOLMES, targetted towards governing critical supply chain processes. Wipro HOLMES is a Wipro’s AI and Automation platform. The solution's integrated automation capabilities span across infrastructure, applications, and business process services.

To bring efficiencies across IT services at a global scale, Wipro will leverage its automotive domain expertise and HOLMES platform for hyper-automation at Marelli, notes the announcement.
