Nokia introduces Cloud-native Network Operations Software to manage 5G Networks

Nokia today launched a cloud-native Nokia Network Operations Master to manage 5G Network.

The company leveraged Nokia’s cloud-native Common Software Foundation (CSF) to build its cloud-native Network Operations Master software. Thus delivering vendor-agnostic network management functionalities for improved operational efficiency, unlimited scalability, built-in resiliency, and zero-downtime upgrades.

Executive Opinion

Chief Technology Officer, Nokia Software, Ron Haberman, said: "With 5G forcing traditional functions, like revenue management and customer care, to the cloud and helping drive software deeper into the network, communication service providers need a modern approach to performing network operations that is automated, more efficient and scalable. The Nokia Network Operations Master delivers these capabilities and allows our customers to perform lifecycle operations with ease, efficiency, and confidence."

Research Director at Analysys Mason, Dana Cooperson, said, "5G networks will require significantly more operations automation than past networks in order to achieve promised levels of efficiency and new service support. Nokia’s Network Operations Master is a cloud-native network management system that is underpinned by machine learning and automated actions and provides the types of tools mobile network operations teams need now for 5G."

Software-driven Network Operations Master for 5G Networks

In the 5G environment, CSPs demand an intelligent management system to tackle a large number of physical and virtual network events. There is a need for Network Operations Master that can handle such heavy workloads in 5G networks.

Network Operations Master automates and simplifies the processes using machine learning techniques and customizable operations. The automated actions respond in milliseconds to a wide variety of network events. This allows CSP (communication service providers) to focus on most critical network events, notes the announcement.

The software-driven approach of Network Operations Master delivers tools for troubleshooting, administration, software management, and configuration management.
