Con Edison selects Cognizant to digitize its IT infrastructure

Con Edison, an American energy utility, has selected Cognizant to modernize its application and technology infrastructure. Con Edison serves more than 10 million customers in New York City.

The multi-year agreement will see Cognizant to build an IT infrastructure that will improve its Con Edison efficiency and reliability, said the announcement.

Director of Information Technology at Con Edison, James Prettitore, said, "This is one of the ways Con Edison is optimizing digital technologies to support customers with energy solutions that provide personalization, convenience and improve reliability. We're confident that together with Cognizant, we will develop a more streamlined approach to technology, operations, and customer engagement and advance our clean energy future."

Senior Vice President and Global Head of Cognizant's Energy, Utilities and Manufacturing Practices, Raj Radhakrishnan, said, "Reliable, cost-effective and easily accessible clean energy is critical in today's on-demand market. Con Edison's multi-year investment to modernize its IT infrastructure will equip the business to respond to today's energy challenges while creating consistent and positive experiences for millions of customers. We are pleased to help Con Edison better support its business, employees, and customers."

Con Edison and Cognizant deal

As of now, the value of the current contract is not known; the deal win in the energy sector can help the company to accelerate its growth slide.

According to the announcement, it will remodel the Con Edison legacy technology platform by moving service management software to the cloud.

It will implement hyper-automation as well as further enhance Con Edison's Internet of Things (IoT) and analytics capabilities. Con Edison expects this transformation to improve its service delivery capabilities. The solutions will also help the company to improve its response to environmental impacts and improve overall customer experience, notes the announcement.
