AI-powered code review startup PullRequest acquires Remote developer Hiring platform Moonlight

PullRequest, an Austin based Code Review as a Service startup, revealed that it acquired the Moonlight, a remote developer hiring startup. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

By acquiring, a platform like Moonlight, which targets end to end development was a natural fit for the PullRequest, notes the announcement.

PullRequest, which is founded in 2017, was created to speed up the process of code review, which makes sure that the code is free of bugs and security flaws before it is released into the production.

The company revealed that its AI-enabled product had done reviews for the thousands of developers that evolve from simply flagging code-based issues to fix them proactively.

Executive Opinion

Co-founder of Moonlight, Emma Lawler, said, "Partnering will make it easier for PullRequest subscribers to write new code faster, and for Moonlight clients to trust the contributions of contractors. The network has paid over $1m to developers for short-term contract work at companies ranging from startups to Cloudflare."

Managing Director of Gradient Ventures and PullRequest board member, Anna Patterson, said, "We're excited about the growing opportunity of on-demand code review. Integrating the Moonlight product and team with Pullrequest will help shape the future direction of the platform."

PullRequest acquires Moonlight

Moonlight has just two employees, co-founders Philip Thomas and Emma Lawler, both of whom now be joining as head of growth and head of product design, respectively.

The platform has more than 3000 developers. These developers will be carried over the network of PullRequest. Thus taking total number of AI-assisted developers count to 10000 at Pullreqest, notes the announcement.

PullRequest was also a member of the Y Combinator summer 2017 cohort. Its recent funding round was $8 million back in the year 2018, which takes the total secured funding to more than $12 million.
