Samsung to expand U.S. 5G Network, Acquires TeleWorld Solutions

Samsung recently announced the acquisition of Chantilly, VA based TeleWorld Solutions (TWS). Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

For network operators, this acquisition accelerates and simplifies rollouts of 5G networks across the U.S., notes the announcement.

Executive opinion

Executive Vice President and Head of Networks Business at Samsung Electronics, Paul Kyungwhoon Cheun, said, "The acquisition of TWS will enable us to meet mobile carriers’ growing needs for improving their 4G and 5G networks, and eventually create new opportunities to enhance our service capabilities to our customers. Samsung will continue to drive innovation in communications technology while providing optimization services for network deployments that accelerate U.S. 5G network expansion."

CEO of TeleWorld Solutions, Shervin Gerami, said, "Everyone at TeleWorld Solutions is excited to be part of the Samsung family. The advent of 5G and the amount of new spectrum coming into the U.S.  market requires scale and innovation for the next generation of wireless technologies. Samsung and TWS

TWS provides design, consulting, deployment, testing, optimization, automation, and software development services to mobile service and cable operators, equipment OEMs. TWS solutions cover the network services spectrum among DAS, Macro, Small Cells, 5G, V2X, Satellite, Technology development, IoT, and Enterprises.

Gartner reported that the Worldwide wireless 5G Network infrastructure revenue will touch $4.2 billion by the end of 2020.

Samsung also noted that it has demoed 5G powered end-to-end solutions right from mobile phone to network infrastructure at its Samsung Austin Semiconductor facility in Texas as part of the 5G Innovation Zone, notes the announcement.

TWS will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics America.
