Microsoft, CBSE join hands to build AI learning for schools


The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has partnered with Microsoft to conduct the capacity building programs to include AI-backed learnings for its high school teachers on the cloud-powered technologies.

The programs will begin on the 10th of September across the ten cities in India, said the announcement.

Microsoft noted in the announcement that it was critical to ramp up education today to meet the growing demand of the workforce of tomorrow and hence, the plans to introduce the AI-backed technologies into the teaching process of CBSE.

General Manager, Microsoft India, Manish Prakash, said, "AI has become a strategic lever for economic growth across nations around the world. Through this initiative, we are empowering institutions, educators and students of India to acquire early education/skills in new technologies like AI and cloud to lead that growth in that rapidly changing world. We are excited at the opportunity to partner with CBSE, as our very first endeavour in any country, to transform the education eco-system with the power of AI and cloud."

Microsoft and CBSE digitization

CBSE will nominate the 1000 teachers for the three-day practical project-based training in the Microsoft 365 tools like the Flipgrid Teams, Minecraft, OneNote, Paint3D, and Outlook.

The program will offer teachers access to the latest information and communication technology tools and help them to integrate the technology into teaching in a secure and safe manner, thus enhancing the learning experience and 21st-century skills of students said the announcement.

They will also learn about the digital storytelling, creation of personalized learning experiences for diverse learners, use of team for the visual lessons and how to use the AI tools to create bots and demystify concepts around AI. A few of the teachers will also go on to become Microsoft innovative educators, the announcement notes.
