McAfee to acquire NanoSec to boost cloud security

McAfee announced the acquisition of cybersecurity firm NanoSec to boost its cloud security solutions. The financial terms of the deal are not disclosed.

Founded in 2015, San Francisco based NanoSec is a pioneer in the application-centric security solutions which is aimed at protecting any application from unknown Cyber-Threats on any infrastructure, at any scale.

McAfee, as a part of the deal, will now be going to use the NanoSec’s Multi-cloud, zero-trust application and security platform to help its client in improving compliance and governance, and even reduce the risk of their cloud and container deployments, the announcement says.

The announcement notes the Gartner observation on need to secure their containerized environment across the entire development life cycle including build and development process, deployment and run phase of an application

NanoSec Capabilities to McAfee portfolio

NanoSec’s will also help to boost container security capabilities of the MVision Server Protection and McAfee MVision Cloud products. NanoSec’s security capabilities such as continuous configuration compliance and vulnerability assessment will be applied application running inside containers and Kubernetes.

The deal will even be going to help the McAfee will more revenues as more enterprises are looking to adopt the container technologies to help in modernizing the legacy applications, and even create new cloud-native applications.

In the month of March, the company had collaborated with Microsoft to launch McAfee MVISION Cloud for the collaboration of Microsoft teams and SharePoint. McAfee MVISION Cloud for the Microsoft team offers compliance and governance, security capabilities, which includes a cloud-native security platform that uses McAfee’s CASB technology.
