Samsung Galaxy S10 May be Another Blockchain Enabled Phone

Samsung announced that its flagship Galaxy S10 has in-built defense-grade Samsung Knox and hardware backed secure storage to store private keys for blockchain-enabled mobile services.

Samsung Knox encompasses both hardware and software encryption, security policies and shipped as an enterprise-grade security solution with Samsung's smartphones, tablets, and wearables. Samsung Knox 3.x currently has five US government certifications such as FIPS 140-2, DISA Approved STIG, DISA ApprovedProduct List, Common Criteria Certification and CSfC.

Knox compatible devices, starting with Galaxy Note 3, support an attestation feature that verifies the integrity of a device. It can check if a device has been rooted or is running unauthorized firmware.

Thus it is quite possible that such secure hardware storage and Knox platform can be used for the purpose of crypto wallet use case. But it is not clear if Samsung plans to equip its S10 smartphone with Cryptocurrency wallet out of the box. The announcement also did not speculate about any kind of cryptocurrencies and crypto tokens that can possibly be supported on Samsung S10.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 official announcement noted, "Galaxy S10 is built with defense-grade Samsung Knox, as well as secure storage backed by hardware, which houses your private keys for blockchain-enabled mobile services."

Other phone manufacturers are already in the field to support blockchain features such as WISePhone Genesis, HTC Exodus 1 and Sirin Labs Finney.
