Wipro to accelerate Blockchain adoption in Energy Sector, joins Energy Web Foundation

Wipro, the India IT behemoth, announced that it has joined as an Affiliate of the EWF (Energy Web Foundation).

EWF is a global nonprofit organization focused on accelerating the adoption of blockchain technology in the energy sector. It has around 50 Affiliates around the globe. It is building and scaling the Energy Web Chain, the first public, open-space blockchain platform, tailor-made for the energy sector.

Energy Web Chain is an open-source, scalable blockchain platform. It is designed for the energy sector’s regulatory, operational, and market needs. Charter of EWF is to identify, document and assess the most promising use cases of blockchain technology in the energy sector. It is trying to position Energy Web Chain to become market standard for energy sector by ensuring interoperability, reducing complexity and costs.

Being an affiliate member of EWF will provide Wipro access to blockchain technology research from EWF in energy blockchain system, gain a deeper understanding of use cases and developments. The membership will also enable Wipro to access managed ecosystem of application developers, and utilize EWF’s educational material (regulators and standards) to accelerate blockchain adoption in the energy sector.
