Kneron, a California-based full-stack edge AI company, has now secured $48 million in a Series B funding round.

Kneron is founded by Albert Liu. It develops full-stack hardware and software products for AI applications. Its reconfigurable solutions resolve problems faced by edge devices running AI – latency, cost, and security – thus enabling AI everywhere. Over the past years, the company saw major new customer wins spanning multiple verticals, which include smart homes, smart vehicles, and smart cities.

Albert Liu, founder, and CEO of Kneron, said, "We are excited to work with our new strategic investors in the advancement of core smart city infrastructures. Edge AI is key to enabling a whole array of devices, from edge servers to smart cameras, which will truly accelerate a proliferation of AI applications that require cross-vertical efforts. With new funding, we are prepared to tape out a next generation of innovative chips."

Kneron's Latest Funding

The round was backed by Horizon Ventures with participation from ADATA, LITEON, and Foxconn, as well as the family office of a major Taiwanese financial institution.

The AI startup as of now has plans to use the new funds to expand operations and its business outreach. The AI startup also planning to leverage new funds to tape out generation of innovative chips, notes the announcement.
