Coinbase Wallet to support .crypto domain for Cryptocurrency Payments

Coinbase Wallet has announced support for .crypto domains. The support has arrived after integration with Unstoppable Domains.

In 2019, Unstoppable Domains rolled out .crypto domains to boost crypto adoption. The .Crypto domain registry resides on the Ethereum Blockchain. Users can connect their cryptocurrency address, a public key address to the .crypto domain address. Thus allowing users to receive payments with blockchain domain address.

Executive Opinion

Unstoppable Domains Co-founder, Brad Kam said, "By supporting blockchain domains, Coinbase is single-handedly moving this market into the crypto mainstream. Blockchain domains will be a standard that all crypto wallets use in the near future."

Coinbase Wallet and .Crypto domains

The basic objective of the blockchain domains is to simplify the cryptocurrency payments.

With .crypto domain support, Coinbase wallet users can send money to a domain name instead of cryptic long addresses. The wallet will also support the registration and management of domain names with the help of the Coinbase dapp browser. Users can also store domain in the collectibles section of the Coinbase wallet, notes the announcement.

The announcement also noted that the Unstoppable Domains has registered over 250,000 domains.

In February 2020, Coinbase started supporting Ethereum Name Service (ENS) addresses. Coinbase has integrated with ENS to support canonical names for crypto addresses as well as their wallet address e.g. @tsm
