Coinbase Card support is added to Google Pay app

Coinbase announced that its Coinbase card is now supported at Google Pay.

Coinbase Card is a Visa debit card and allows its users to spend Coinbase cryptocurrency balance. Based on the latest exchange rate, the Coinbase card converts crypto directly into local currency at the time of spending.

In an announcement, Coinbase blog stated, "Google Pay gives Coinbase Card customers a fast, secure way to pay using their smartphones, smartwatches, and other Google Pay-enabled devices. With Google Pay, Android users can pay for everything from daily travel to end-of-year getaways using their crypto in the safest possible way"

The announcement also listed the method to use Coinbase card at Google Pay. Users have to sign in to Google Pay with Coinbase account. Customers then request Coinbase card. Once the card is available, it can be added to Google Pay.

Considering the wide usages of Google Pay, the Coinbase card support is definitely is a big boost to cryptocurrencies and a strategic move to bring cryptocurrencies into the mainstream.

Google Pay will support Coinbase card in a limited number of countries. The announcement lists the supported countries, viz. the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, Belgium, Finland, France, Italy, Slovakia, Spain, Croatia, Czech Republic, Poland, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden.

U.S.-based cryptocurrency exchange, Coinbase is the first company allowing users to make mobile payments with crypto, notes the announcement.
