IBM Blockchain Platform Extension v1.0.0 is now Available for Visual Studio Code IDE


IBM launched the v1.0.0 version of the IBM Blockchain Platform extension for Visual StudioCode. This fully open source project is under works since October of the year 2018. 

The v1.0.0 of IBM Blockchain Platform extension is built around Hyperledger Fabric 1.4 and can be deployed to Hyperledger Fabric 1.4 network with the help of standard SDKs and command-line interfaces (CLIs). The announcement noted that IBM has been introducing new features to this extension every two weeks based on open source community feedback.

IBM made its first investment in blockchain in the year 2015. Since then the big blue has been very sure that every developer requires the best developing tool for him/her to use.

Latest v1.0.0 for Visual Studio Code

The v1.0.0 aims at simplifying the development of blockchain applications, basically for new developers. It has come out with various new features which will help in increasing its potential.

The announcement noted that the newly introduced blockchain extension offers a set of tutorials to develop smart contracts and deploying that smart contract to a cloud-hosted network. Linting and unit testing capabilities are also made available. The capability to package and deploy their smart contracts by standing up local fabric peer is also now possible. Developers can easily test their smart contracts along with debugging capabilities in the Visual Studio Code environment.
