Robotic Automation and AI to Accelerate Digital Business Transformation, Blockchain as a Service Yet to make its Strong Case


As more and more companies looking towards digitally transform their businesses, American enterprises are looking at Robotic process automation and artificial intelligence to achieve these objectives, according to the latest research report by Information Services Group (ISG).

Founded in 2006, ISG (Information Services Group) is a leading global technology research and advisory firm and specializes in digital transformation services, like automation, cloud and data analytics. ISG has around 700 clients that include 75 of the top 100 enterprises in the world. ISG Provider Lens reports, cover providers with their global services offerings, across Europe and Latin America, as well as in the U.S., Germany, the U.K., the Nordics, Brazil, and Australia/New Zealand.

Enterprises in Pan Americas

The latest ISG Provider Lens Digital Business Transformation Report covers Pan American enterprises and found that these enterprise looking to automate IT functions for digitally transforming their businesses. The report notes that many providers in the space of digital business transformation are developing their own tools and as-a-service offerings, using analytics, automation, AI (artificial intelligence) and cognitive computing. These providers are focusing on delivering specialized services, including efficiency prioritization, dynamic response and provisioning, and security etc.

Sourcing such services help enterprises achieve competitive edge due to their reliance on low prices for labor-intensive services from vendors.

The report notes the emergence of digital transformation ecosystems, with leading providers forming alliances to offer a comprehensive package of services that are more valuable than separate offerings.

The ISG report lists seven areas (called quadrants in the report) viz. Enabling the digital customer journey, digital enterprise, operations, digital transformational platforms (PaaS), digital transformation services (aaS), digital product creation & customization digital continuous delivery, blockchain as a service.

Partner at ISG America, Rajib Datta, said, "The evaluation of vendors now includes what kind of bots, AI, machine learning and cognitive technologies are provided. Service companies are becoming business providers rather than technical support providers. Leading providers each have more value if they work together and less value if broken apart."

Enterprise Leadership in Different Segments

Cognizant and IBM are noted as leaders in all seven quadrants followed by Accenture is a leader in six quadrants. DXC Technology and Wipro are leaders in three quadrants while Softtek, Stefanini and Tech Mahindra are leaders in two. Atos, Salesforce, and TCS are leaders in only one quadrant, according to the report.

Though there are few identified uses cases for Blockchain as a Service, the report adds that most of these projects are still in the proof of concept stages and not deployed in production.

The report suggests that Accenture, IBM, Tech Mahindra, and Cognizant are the leaders in Blockchain as a Service segment. Stefanini and Wipro are tagged as the rising stars in the same Blockchain as a Service segment (quadrant).
