Twilio Closes Acquisition of Sendgrid at USD $3 Billion

Twilio's acquisition of Sendgrid completed

Twilio, one of the leading cloud communication platforms announced that they have successfully completed their acquisition of Sendgrid Inc., a leading email API platform.  The transaction is closed at approximately $3 billion in an all-stock deal.

San Francisco based Twilio allows software developers to use their web service APIs to make and receive phone calls, send and receive text messages, and other communication functions.

Denver based SendGrid is a cloud-based email delivery platform that reliably delivers around 25 billion emails each month for Internet and mobile-based customers like Airbnb, Spotify, and Uber.

What's Next

The acquisition of Sendgrid by Twilio redefines the position of the firm in the current market. With the acquisition now complete, developers and businesses can now make use of multiple channels available to them such as voice, SMS, Facebook Messenger, video, WhatsApp and even email.

Sendgrid will operate as a subsidiary of Twilio under the leadership of its former CEO Sameer Dholakia.
