Huawei cloud Expands to Singapore, Launched its new cloud region

Huawei cloud launched its new region in Singapore and plans to develop the Singapore region its biggest region outside China. This new investment is driven by growth in demand for cloud services across the Asia-Pacific region, the announcement said.

In 2018 alone, Huawei cloud opened its regions in Hong Kong, Russia, Thailand, & South Africa along with 40 availability zones had been opened in 23 geographic regions. The company already has its regions in the Chinese mainland, Europe, and Latin America regions.

Executive Opinion

President of HUAWEI CLOUD Asia Pacific region, Roben Wang, said, “HUAWEI CLOUD is proud to strategically invest in Singapore region, expanding our presence across the Asia Pacific with the support of local and global ICT ecosystem partners. We look forward to providing stable, secure, and scalable cloud platform for both local as well as Chinese-funded enterprises with overseas expansion plans. These cloud services, which offer low latency and high cost-efficiency, will leverage the high-performance chips, servers, storage and network equipment that Huawei has developed, as well as the high-speed networks we have constructed with carriers in Asia Pacific."

President of HUAWEI South Pacific region, Jeffery Liu, said, "Huawei has established a longstanding presence in the Asia Pacific region and has become part of the local ecosystems. In recent years, many governments in the Asia Pacific region have announced their digital transformation strategies. We are ready to help local governments and enterprises implement their digital transformation strategies through exciting new technologies such as cloud computing and AI. In addition, HUAWEI CLOUD will launch a skill training and recruitment plan for the Asia Pacific region, providing more employment opportunities and professional training programs for talent."

About Singapore Region

The company said that it provides key advantages for its new region in Singapore such as fully dynamic BGP lines, and full-mesh connections to Hong Kong and Thailand along with a stable network. Huawei cloud received approvals under Singapore's strict data security certification process. The company will also provide 24/7 technical support and service assurance to its customer base spanning in the government, financial industry and large local enterprises.

Huawei further plans to build AI capabilities in the Singapore region with Huawei cloud's technical solutions and innovations.

Huawei Cloud competes with the likes of Amazon Web Services (AWS), Alibaba Cloud, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure in the Singapore region. Most of these cloud service providers have multiple availability zones.  However, Huawei cloud in their announcement did not mention the number of availability zones it will support in Singapore region.
