Capgemini and Swinburne University Establishe Global Blockchain Centre of Excellence (CoE)

Capgemini has partnered with Swinburne University of Technology and launched its Global Blockchain Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Melbourne in San Francisco at Capgemini’s Applied Innovation Exchange.

Capgemini is a world leader in consulting, technology services and digital transformation.

Swinburne’s Professor Yang Xiang and Capgemini's Sudhir Pai will co-led the efforts at Capgemini Blockchain Centre of Excellence.

Professor Yang Xiang is a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Deakin University, Australia and Dean of the Digital Research & Innovation Capability Platform, Swinburne University of Technology, Australia. Capgemini's Sudhir Pai is Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Financial Services SBU.

The Global Blockchain Centre of Excellence (CoE) will look at advancing blockchain technologies, blockchain research, platforms, assets, and systems to further educate industry understanding and implementation of blockchain technologies.

Chief Technology Officer for Financial Services at Capgemini, Sudhir Pai, said, “Applying blockchain to enterprises is a game changer for many industries. There are some exciting use cases across industries in the marketplace that are showing the benefits of blockchain-enabled solutions. Our collaboration with Swinburne University will provide a platform for industry collaboration with academic institutions and start-up communities to support innovation and growth in today’s digital economy".

Swinburne Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Development) Professor Aleksandar Subic, said, “Blockchain is at the heart of the fourth industrial revolution and digital economy. This partnership with Capgemini will allow us to consolidate our complementary capabilities and networks within the scope of an interdisciplinary Centre of Excellence. This development will allow experts to engage collaboratively from across the university and industries with leading capabilities in financial services, computer science, engineering, design, law, and business.”

Blockchain Innovation Lab from Swinburne will bring its blockchain capabilities to the blockchain Centre of Excellence. The center will further drive strategic blockchain developments in financial services, creative industries, manufacturing, food, pharmaceutical, and health domains.

Swinburne Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Development) Professor Aleksandar Subic noted that the blockchain is at the heart of the fourth industrial revolution and digital economy.

The multi-disciplinary team from Swinburne University will engage with Capgemini’s network of global experts to lead innovative blockchain solutions from proof-of-concept to production, by addressing complex business problems focused on financial services, trade, and supply chain areas.

Blockchain technology is at the heart of Swinburne’s Industry 4.0 strategy. The newly announced center will take blockchain solutions from proof of concept to production.
