Universities Using AI to Create a Curriculum for The Future

Universities using AI to create a curriculum for the future

Thanks to the development and emergence of new technological verticals in the last decade, the world has come a long way in a short amount of time. But, the education system is one of the key areas where changes have not been made with the curriculum not updated that frequently.

It is estimated that by 2022, 7% of the total workforce in India will be engaged in new roles which will have entirely different skill set compared to the ones we have right now, according to a report by FICCI-NASSCOM and EY- Future of Jobs.

According to the report, 9% of India's 600 million estimated workforces would be deployed in jobs that do not exist today. Today there are many jobs which did not exist five years ago.

There are exponential changes which will have to be made to the current syllabus so as to keep it relevant for the upcoming roles in all the jobs. Up to 60% of the 800,000 engineering students who graduate from Indian universities each year are unemployed according to a report by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

How Artificial Intelligence can come to the rescue?

To make designs for new educational programmes, we need market analysis that shows the need for these changed designs, shows the gap between demand and supply, and designs a curriculum that bridges the gap between demand and supply and identifies the right faculties.

The present system relies heavily on the curriculum advisory board which is, to be honest, not sufficient in the current day scenario. AI and Big Data Analysis are helping in this regard to analyze the need of the hour.

Big data, paired with AI can easily interpret the thousands of jobs available in various key sectors and the skills required for the aforementioned jobs. This is not the only scenario where AI can help. It can also adapt to the ever-changing market requirements and the rise of new technologies.

Technology has enabled access to a vast amount of knowledge whereas AI is helping personalize and deliver all the relevant content.
