7 principles for AI application by Google

A lot of companies are bringing Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities to their software applications and platforms. All major players such as Google, Microsoft, Oracle, Baidu are at the forefront of bringing Artificial Intelligence in almost every area of our daily lives.

AI aka Artificial Intelligence is powerful technology and it is said, with Power comes a Responsibility. AI being developed at such a rapid rate, there has to be a framework to its humungous growth.

Google has come up with 7 principles for use of artificial intelligence.
Here are these 7 principles,

  1. AI will take into account a broad range of social and economic factors and strive to make high-quality and accurate information readily available while continuing to respect cultural, social, and legal norms in the countries.
  2. AI will avoid unjust impacts on people, particularly those related to sensitive characteristics such as race, ethnicity, gender, nationality, income, sexual orientation, ability, and political or religious belief.
  3. AI systems will be tested for safety 
  4. AI systems will be subject to appropriate human direction and control.
  5. AI system will encourage architectures with privacy safeguards, and provide appropriate transparency and control over the use of data with appropriate notices and consent.
  6. AI developments to maintain high standards of scientific excellence and share knowledge by publishing educational materials, best practices, and research that enable more people to develop useful AI applications with utmost responsibility.
  7. AI technologies will be made available according to these principals and limits
The blog from Google also stated that AI applications will not pursue areas that cause overall harms including weapons, surveillance technologies beyond accepted norms etc.
